This book is written by Sherman Alexie in 2007. The book is in first person narrative by a Native American teenager called Arnold also known as Junior a 14 year-old. Junior enjoys playing basketballs and drawing cartoon on his free time. Arnold and his family are dealing with poverty. Most times they don't have enough money to eat or for gas. Although he and his family is going through all of that, he is incredibly smart and transferred from an all Indian school to an all white school. The book is written based on his life on Spokane Indian Reservation and on his decision. The novel is controversial for some of it's content on issues such as alcohol, poverty, bullying, violence, and sexual references. Juniors mom named Agnes Adams lived on the reservation her whole life. She likes to drink and read books. Juniors dad is an alcoholic who sings good. He disappears for days. Juniors has a best friend named Rowdy since they were little. Rowdy's father abuses him, that leads him to his bullying behavior. Junior also has a sister named Mary. She is smart, but never had skills to get a job. She is also drinker.
